What Design Can Do: Film Workshop

VBAT partnered with acclaimed visual artist Marcus Lyall and composer / pianist Joep Beving to explore the possibilities of What Design Can Do For Music.

In a highly interactive breakout session led by Marcus and VBAT all participants created a film to accompany a hauntingly beautiful soundtrack composed by pianist Joep Beving. The participants got their hands dirty as they drew, painted, etched, scratched and bleached directly onto 16mm film stock to create their visuals. All film artwork was then spliced together and projected on the main stage at What Design Can Do as the backdrop to a live piano performance by Joep Beving.
