Idle Moments (2024)
Digital Stills, shot on Fuji GFX100. Laser and black back projection screen
During the process of making 'Idle Time', I experimented with long exposure images of the movements of my 'idle' subjects.
This mirrors the work of early 'time and motion' photographers and researchers such as Etienne Jules Marey and Fred Taylor.
I used a laser back-projected onto a screen and used long exposures on a very high resolution camera to create the stills.
Rather than being scientific, I 'played' the data through a software 'synthesiser', which allowed me to change different characteristics of laser projection as the motion animations played.
